Dear Learning Community:

Hello, Bonjour, Buon Giorno, Buenos Dias and Shalom!  Welcome to Mr. C's Humanities blog and to Team Conquest. Here you will find information and happenings from our ELA and World Cultures classes and important up to date information.

I look forward to meeting all new students and their families and am excited about the start of a new school year. There is no doubt that seventh grade is a huge milestone for students and it is the place where we begin building upon the foundation previously laid by our elementary school. Seventh grade is a challenging year and a year of major changes for students, academically, emotionally, and physically. Since I have taught middle school for roughly 17 years, I have some keen insights that can help you and your family navigate these challenging years.

On a personal note, I have raised middle school children and I know the many challenges that you face with letting go and fostering independence and intervening when things just don't seem right. I always say, trust your instinct and certainly contact me immediately if there are any concerns you may have. I always reply promptly and will do my best to address your concerns. I always ask that you give me a chance to work with you and your child first as we build this incredibly important relationship for your child. If you feel something is not right or that there are changes in your child's behavior or something that you may need to be clarified, please don't hesitate to contact me. I am here for your child and for you.

On this blog, I will post homework assignments and long term projects. Besides posting this information here, students will also find it posted in the classroom, outside the classroom at our team's message center, and Remind 101 (which I will ask you to sign up for prior to Open House). I do all I can to keep you informed throughout the entire year and to help you track your child's progress. Please contact me with any questions at any time via email and I will reply to you promptly.

I am asking students for a family picture to be brought to school for our first writing assignment. This can be a basic printed photo on regular printer paper. Color is best, but black and white are just fine. Ideally, this would be great to have for our first week of school.

I want to thank you for this opportunity to work with your child and together, to build a strong and lasting bond. If you should have any questions or if there is anything that I can help with, please don't hesitate to ask. The best way to reach me is via email at phillip.chevalier@tyngsboroughps.org

With kind regards,
Phill Chevalier
